Dräger X-pid® 9000 / 9500 — selective VOC detector (benzene, PID + GC)
The Dräger X-pid 9000/9500 is a portable, selective detector for volatile organic compounds that combines gas chromatography (pre-separation) with photoionization detection (PID 10.6 eV). This lets it measure specific compounds — primarily the carcinogen benzene and 1,3-butadiene — while eliminating interference from other hydrocarbons. The 9500 version quantifies around 40 compounds (incl. benzene, butadiene, toluene, xylenes, vinyl chloride, ethylene oxide), and the 9500+ detects benzene down to 5 ppb. It operates without consumables (no tubes), and is controlled via an intrinsically safe smartphone with an app.
The Dräger X-pid 9000/9500 is a portable, selective detector of volatile organic compounds that combines gas chromatography (pre-separation) with photoionization detection (PID 10.6 eV). This allows it to measure specific compounds — primarily carcinogenic benzene and 1,3-butadiene — eliminating interference from other hydrocarbons. The 9500 version quantifies about 40 compounds (including benzene, butadiene, toluene, xylenes, vinyl chloride, ethylene oxide), and the 9500+ detects benzene from as low as 5 ppb. It operates without consumables (no tubes), and is controlled via an intrinsically safe smartphone with a dedicated app.
Note: The X-pid 9000 is limited to benzene and 1,3-butadiene; the 9500 covers ~40 compounds; the 9500+ is the same hardware with an improved calculation model (benzene from 5 ppb). We help select the right version for your application.
Key features
- Selective VOC measurement after pre-separation (GC) — eliminates interference from other hydrocarbons.
- 9000: benzene and 1,3-butadiene; 9500: ~40 compounds quantified.
- Benzene detection limit from 50 ppb (9000/9500), from 5 ppb (9500+).
- Two modes: „Seeker” (total VOC, direct reading) and „Analysis” (selective, benzene ~30 s).
- No consumables per measurement (no indicator tubes).
- Integrated pump with probe; operated via an intrinsically safe smartphone (app).
- GasVision 8 software; IP54 protection rating of the sensor unit.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What does the Dräger X-pid measure?
It selectively measures specific volatile organic compounds — primarily benzene and 1,3-butadiene. Thanks to pre-separation (GC), the reading is not distorted by other hydrocarbons.
How does the 9500 differ from the 9000?
The 9000 measures only benzene and 1,3-butadiene; the 9500 quantifies about 40 compounds. The 9500+ variant detects benzene from as low as 5 ppb.
Are tubes or consumables required?
No — the X-pid performs measurements without indicator tubes. It is operated via an intrinsically safe smartphone with an app.
