MSA PrimaX® IR — infrared transmitter for combustible gases in harsh conditions
The PrimaX IR is an industrial transmitter based on infrared technology, designed for detecting combustible gases within the lower explosive limit (LEL) range in the harshest environmental conditions. A patented dual infrared source design provides redundancy and uninterrupted measurement even if one source fails, while heated optics and an environmental guard minimize the risk of interference from rain, fog, dust and contamination. A rugged 316 stainless steel housing with an IP67 rating and factory calibration ensure fast commissioning and years of trouble-free operation.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How does the PrimaX IR ensure continuity of measurement?
Thanks to its patented dual infrared source design — if one source fails, the other continues to provide correct measurement.
Is the PrimaX IR suitable for operation in harsh weather conditions?
Yes — heated optics, a sensor environmental guard and a rugged 316 stainless steel housing with an IP67 rating minimize the risk of interference from rain, fog, dust and contamination.
How does calibration of the PrimaX IR work?
The detector is factory calibrated, and routine on-site calibration can be performed by a single person using a calibration cup.
