Prosense PE-Kayo Series — gas detector for fuel stations with impact sensor

The Prosense PE-Kayo Series is a gas detector designed specifically for fuel stations and Oil & Gas installations, combining gas measurement with a built-in accelerometer that monitors physical impacts at the mounting location. When a car or other vehicle strikes the detector or its mounting bracket, the device generates an alarm that can shut off the flow of fuel or gas. The catalytic sensor provides high measurement accuracy in the 0–100% LEL range.

Key features

  • Built-in 3-axis accelerometer — detects physical impacts (e.g., a vehicle collision) and generates a safety alarm.
  • Catalytic sensor — LPG, methane, gasoline vapors, butane, propane, hydrogen in the 0–100% LEL range.
  • ATEX and IECEx certification — safe operation in explosive atmosphere zones.
  • Universal 4–20 mA analog output and Modbus RS485.
  • Remote detector status monitoring via Prosense Gas Monitoring software.
  • P-3R+ relay module — control of additional devices or connection to a fire alarm control panel.
  • Die-cast aluminum enclosure, IP65, resistant to fuel station operating conditions.

Applications

Fuel stations, LPG/CNG dispensers, Oil & Gas installations and refueling points — wherever, in addition to gas detection, protection of the detector against damage by vehicles is important.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is the impact detection function for?

The built-in accelerometer detects a physical impact on the detector or its mounting bracket (e.g., by a car or truck) and generates an alarm that can shut off the flow of gas or fuel, preventing an accident.

How does the PE-Kayo differ from the standard PE Series?

The PE-Kayo additionally has a built-in 3-axis motion sensor and a Modbus RS485 output, making it a dedicated solution for fuel stations, whereas the PE Series is a basic catalytic detector.

Is the detector suitable for explosive atmosphere zones at a fuel station?

Yes — the PE-Kayo holds ATEX and IECEx certifications permitting operation in Zone 1 and Zone 2, typical for fuel and LPG dispensers.
