RS sorbent socks — sorbent boom absorbing oil from water and land

RS sorbent socks (AWA-Eko) are long bags of strong nonwoven fabric filled with polypropylene oil sorbent, with a load-bearing strap on the outside. They absorb mineral and natural oils across a wide range of densities, and joined by cords at the ends they form a sorbent boom that simultaneously contains and absorbs a spilled oil slick on water and land. The sorbent is non-toxic, unsinkable, hydrophobic and reusable; absorption capacity reaches 25 g of oil per 1 g of sorbent.

RS sorbent socks (AWA-Eko) are long bags made of strong nonwoven fabric filled with polypropylene oil sorbent, with a load-bearing tape on the outside. They absorb mineral and natural oils across a wide range of densities, and when joined with ropes at the ends they form a sorbent boom that simultaneously contains and absorbs a spilled oil slick on water and land. The sorbent is non-toxic, unsinkable, hydrophobic and can be used repeatedly; absorbency reaches 25 g of oil per 1 g of sorbent.

Key features

  • Absorbs mineral and natural oils; absorbency up to 25 g of oil / 1 g of sorbent.
  • Joined with ropes they form a sorbent boom — contains and absorbs the slick at the same time.
  • Non-toxic, unsinkable, hydrophobic (water absorption up to ~1% of weight).
  • Can be reused; sorbent density approx. 50 kg/m³.
  • Load-bearing tape on the outside of the sock — convenient handling.
  • Types of various lengths and diameters (e.g. RS 3.0/200, RS 1.2/100, RS 3.0/120, RS 1.0/200).

Containing and collecting oil spills on water and land, surrounding oil slicks, manholes and settling tanks, fuel stations, industrial plants, rescue services and environmental protection.

Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

How does a sorbent sock differ from a Finboom boom?

A Finboom boom only contains the spill, whereas a sorbent sock simultaneously contains and absorbs the oil. They are often used together: the Finboom surrounds the area, and the socks/cushions collect the oil inside.

How are socks used as a boom?

They are joined with ropes at the ends, surround the oil slick and gradually narrow the spill area — the sock prevents spreading and absorbs the oil.

How much oil will a sock absorb?

The sorbent has an absorbency of up to 25 g of oil per 1 g of sorbent and practically does not absorb water.
