AWA-Eko sorbent pillows — oil sorbent for water and land (BQ30 sorbent)

AWA-Eko sorbent pillows are bags of strong non-woven fabric filled with BQ30 polypropylene oil sorbent, used to absorb oil and petroleum products from the surface of water and land. The sorbent is non-toxic, unsinkable and hydrophobic (it does not absorb water), and its absorbency reaches approx. 25 g of oil per 1 g of sorbent. The pillows are placed inside an area bounded by booms, at spill sites, as well as in manholes and settling tanks where oily wastewater accumulates. Available, among others, as cylindrical channel pillows (PKw) and round ones (PKo 300/400/600).

Note: A pillow is replaced once the whole of it has taken on the colour of the absorbed oil. The exact dimensions, weights and absorbency of the individual types (PKo 300/400/600, PKw 500) — to be completed from the manufacturer datasheet.

How much oil does a sorbent pillow absorb?

The BQ30 sorbent has an absorbency of approx. 25 g of oil per 1 g of sorbent and absorbs practically no water — which is why it effectively collects oil also from the water surface.

Are the pillows suitable for manholes?

Yes — the channel variants (PKo/PKw) are intended, among others, for manholes and settling tanks, where they float on the surface and trap oil particles.

When should a pillow be replaced?

When the whole pillow takes on the colour of the absorbed oil — this indicates saturation. Periodic inspection of the saturation and mechanical condition is recommended.
