Buzzer for AC HotStick — audible signalling module

Audible signalling module for the AC HotStick voltage detector. This is the part of the instrument that warns of AC voltage with a sound signal, alongside the visual indication. Available separately as a spare part.

What it does

The AC HotStick warns of voltage in two ways: with light and with sound. In practice the second one matters most — at a road incident, in noise, after dark, or when the instrument is held out on a pole, the audible signal reaches the user more reliably than an indicator that has to be watched.

The buzzer is responsible for that part of the warning. If the signal is quieter than it used to be, intermittent, or absent, replacing the module restores full function without sending in the whole detector.

Construction

  • Red polymer housing, matching the colour of the instrument head.
  • Perforated acoustic outlet — nine openings with a mesh protecting the transducer.
  • O-ring seal around the circumference — protects the interior from moisture and dust.
  • Spring contacts — solder-free electrical connection, held under pressure also under vibration.
  • Modular design — the buzzer is a separate part, not potted into the housing.

When to replace it

A voltage detector is an instrument to be checked before work, not at the moment the warning is needed. Three things are worth watching for:

  • The signal is clearly quieter than before — the most common sign of a worn transducer or a blocked outlet.
  • The signal breaks up or crackles — usually a contact problem; sometimes cleaning is enough, sometimes the module has to be replaced.
  • No sound while the light still works — the indicator lights, the buzzer stays silent.

A missing signal does not mean the instrument no longer detects voltage — it means it has stopped warning in a way you can rely on. That is why a detector with a faulty buzzer should be withdrawn from use until repaired.

Fitting

The module is replaced in the instrument head. If you would rather not do it yourself, we will fit it in our service department together with a functional check of the detector.

Fits

AC HotStick — non-contact AC voltage detector (120 V – 46 kV)

When ordering, please state which version of the instrument you have — we will confirm the fit before dispatch.
