Magnetic charger for AC HotStick (DC 5.6 V / 1 A)
Charger for the rechargeable AC HotStick voltage detector. The connector is magnetic — it is held against the socket in the housing, with nothing to plug in. Available separately: as a spare part or as a second unit for the vehicle.
Why a magnetic connector
On field equipment the charging socket is the most exposed point: water, dust and sand get in, and the contacts work loose from repeated plugging. A magnetic connector has no opening — contact is made by holding it against the housing, and the magnet keeps it there.
In practice this means three things: it cannot be connected the wrong way round, the plug cannot be broken off, and a pull on the cable detaches the charger instead of tearing out the socket.
Only the original charger
Use only the charger supplied with the instrument. Another power supply — even one matching the voltage — may damage the battery or the electronics. This is not boilerplate: the charging parameters are matched to the specific cell.
When a second one is worth having
- One in the vehicle, one at the station — the detector charges where it happens to be, not where the charger happens to be.
- With several detectors — charging one after another from a single charger stretches out shift preparation.
- As a replacement — the adapter lead is a wearing part; chafing at the plug is the most common cause of failure.
Charging in practice
When the detector signals a low charge — a steady-rate alarm right after switch-on — hold the magnetic connector against the socket in the housing and plug the adapter into the mains. A full charge lasts for up to 500 hours of operation.
Fits
AC HotStick rechargeable — non-contact voltage detector (120 V – 46 kV)
The battery version of the detector needs no charger. If you are not sure which version you have, write to us — we will identify it from a photograph of the housing.
