We come to you with the instruments and calibration gases. We handle portable detectors and fixed systems without dismantling or shipping — the equipment stays in place and the plant keeps running.
Service in our laboratory — two modes
Our service station — we also call it the laboratory — is in Suchy Dwór near Gdynia. You can deliver equipment in person or send it by courier; we return it the same way. Whichever way it arrives, you choose one of two modes:
Normal mode — the standard order of jobs, at a more favourable price.
Express mode — priority handling, out of turn, in a shortened time. A separate service, quoted separately.

Inspection, adjustment, calibration, certification — what they mean
These four terms are often confused, yet they describe different operations. With gas detectors it works like this:
Detector inspection — checking the condition of the instrument, sensors, alarms, filters and power supply.
Adjustment — applying certified calibration gas and correcting the detector reading so that it matches the reference value.
Calibration, meaning the check after adjustment — applying calibration gas again and verifying that the detector shows the correct value and stays within the required tolerance.
Certification — issuing a document confirming that the instrument has been checked and meets the specified requirements.
The key difference. Adjustment — we set the instrument. Calibration — we check and establish that the readings are correct. Certification — we document the result of the check.
A word of caution about terminology: certification in itself is neither calibration nor adjustment — it is confirmation of the work performed and its result. In practice, an order for “certification” usually means the whole sequence: inspection, adjustment, check and document.
What we service

We replace sensors, filters and batteries, diagnose faults, carry out repairs and periodic inspections. With every service we issue documentation for your health and safety records.
How often a gas detector needs servicing
Manufacturers of portable detectors recommend full service every 6 or 12 months, depending on the model and the working conditions. Between services a short bump test is performed — before measurements begin.
The interval shortens when the detector works in dust, damp or high temperature, or where the air contains substances that poison sensors: silicones, solvent vapours, hydrogen sulphide in high concentrations. It also shortens after any event that could have damaged the instrument — a drop, flooding, or entry into dense vapours.
A separate matter is sensor age. An electrochemical cell wears out even while the detector sits in a cupboard, because the chemical reaction runs all the time. An instrument unused for a year can have a sensor at the end of its life — and you only find out at the service.
At sea a different standard applies. Entering a confined space on a ship requires a five-gas detector with MED certification — besides oxygen, flammable gases, carbon monoxide and hydrogen sulphide it also measures carbon dioxide. MED certification, the ship’s wheel mark, is a separate approval — neither ATEX nor a manufacturer’s declaration replaces it. We are a certification station recognised by the Director of the Maritime Office in Gdynia, so we handle such equipment in house.

What the price of service depends on
There is no single rate for “gas detector service”, because the name covers very different work. The quote depends on:
The number and type of sensors — each needs its own calibration gas. A 4-gas detector means four separate operations, not one.
The type of calibration gas — standard mixtures are cheap; gases for special sensors (ammonia, chlorine, ethylene oxide) are considerably more expensive and have a shorter shelf life.
The condition of the equipment — an inspection and calibration cost differently from replacing worn sensors, filters or batteries.
The number of instruments — with larger batches the unit cost falls.
The mode — express handling out of turn is quoted separately.
The place — at our station or with a visit to your site.
That is why we ask for a list of equipment: model, quantity, which sensors. On that basis we quote precisely, rather than giving a range.
Replacement equipment during the service
A detector in for service is a workplace without protection. If work cannot stop, for the duration of the service we issue a replacement instrument from our detector hire fleet — calibrated and ready to work. This suits plants where a measurement is the condition for entering a confined space or issuing a hot work permit.

We carry out on-site service in the Tricity — Gdynia, Gdańsk, Sopot — as well as in Rumia, Reda, Wejherowo and throughout the Pomeranian region. Journeys beyond Pomerania are arranged individually. Equipment sent by courier we accept from all over Poland.

How long does gas detector service take?
In normal mode the lead time depends on the queue of jobs and on whether parts have to be replaced — we give it when we take the equipment in. If you need the instrument back sooner, choose express mode: we handle it out of turn, in a shortened time. With on-site service the equipment never leaves your premises, so there is practically no downtime.
How much does gas detector service cost?
The price depends on the number and type of sensors, the calibration gases needed, the condition of the equipment, the number of instruments and the mode you choose. Yes. It makes no difference where you bought the instrument. We are an authorised Honeywell service station and we also handle MSA, WatchGas and the other brands in our range.
