Bieler+Lang GasMonitor — toxic gas and oxygen detector for safe areas
An electrochemical detector for toxic gases and oxygen in rooms where there is no explosion risk. The same measuring technology as the ExMonitor, without explosion protection — and without its cost.
When Ex protection is not needed
Hazardous area classification applies where a flammable mixture of gas, vapour or dust with air can form. A great many rooms in which toxic gases are monitored are not such an area: an underground car park with CO measurement, a production hall, a server room, a laboratory, a cold store with ammonia in a closed circuit, a tunnel.
In places like these explosion protection buys nothing but a higher price. The GasMonitor measures just as accurately, costs less and installs faster.
Eleven gases and oxygen
Depending on the fitted cell the detector measures CO, H₂S, SO₂, NO, NO₂, Cl₂, HCN, HCl, NH₃, H₂ or oxygen. The cell is chosen for the specific hazard — one device, one gas.
The output is a linear 4–20 mA signal, so the detector works with the GMC 8022 and GMC 8034 controllers, and with any BMS that accepts a current loop.
A note on availability
The manufacturer notes that the GasMonitor is available in limited quantities. Its successor is the GasMonitor 30 — a newer, more cost-effective design with the same 4–20 mA output.
When planning an installation meant to run for years, that is worth taking into account. Write to us — we will check current availability of both versions and advise which to choose.
