Dräger K3 — drying cabinet for turnout gear (3 sets)
The Dräger K3 is a compact, "set and forget" drying cabinet for 3 sets of turnout clothing (jackets or trousers), manufactured by Harstra Instruments and distributed under the Dräger brand. Built-in sensors detect when the clothing is already dry and automatically end the cycle — without the risk of over-drying and accelerated material wear, as with tumble dryers. Full stainless-steel housing and chamber, drying cycle approx. 2 hours.
Key features
- Dries up to 3 sets of turnout clothing (jackets or trousers) at the same time.
- Automatic "set and forget" mode — a humidity sensor switches off drying by itself once the clothing is dry (approx. 2 hours).
- A timed mode is also available (timer 1 min – 99:58 h).
- Significantly less material wear than in a tumble dryer — no mechanical friction.
- Housing and chamber entirely in stainless steel.
- Door with magnetic seal, drip tray in polished stainless steel.
- F5-class air filter (EN 779) at the inlet.
- 4 adjustable feet — easy levelling.

Suitability
The K3 dries protective clothing — turnout jackets and trousers. Clothing must be properly washed and disinfected before drying. The K3 is not intended for one-piece coveralls (for these, larger models in the K series), nor for breathing apparatus (for that, dedicated ODO dryers such as the Harstra M-45).
Applications
Volunteer and state fire stations, professional fire brigades, respiratory-protection workshops and industrial plants maintaining their own protective clothing — quickly and gently restoring turnout gear to readiness after washing, without the excessive material wear typical of tumble dryers.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
How does the K3 differ from an ordinary tumble dryer?
The K3 dries with a flow of warm air in an enclosed cabinet, with no mechanical tumbling — this is far gentler on turnout-gear material than a tumble dryer, extending its service life.
How many sets of clothing fit in the K3?
A maximum of 3 turnout jackets or trousers at the same time, on a removable stainless-steel rail.
Does the drying cycle need to be monitored?
No — the automatic mode detects on its own when the clothing is dry and switches the device off (approx. 2 hours); a timed mode is also available.
Is a larger version available?
Yes — larger cabinets in the same series are also available (for 6–9 sets or one-piece coveralls), as well as dedicated dryers for breathing apparatus and masks (e.g. Dräger M-45). Ask about the right choice for your fire station.
