Dräger K8 — drying cabinet for turnout gear (6–9 sets)
The Dräger K8 (manufactured by Harstra Instruments) is a wide, high-capacity drying cabinet for turnout clothing — it dries 6–9 sets of jackets or trousers at the same time. The same internal height as the compact K3, but a wider construction — greater capacity with no need for frames. Built-in sensors detect when the clothing is already dry and automatically end the cycle — without the risk of over-drying, as with tumble dryers. Full stainless-steel housing and chamber, automatic drying cycle approx. 4 hours.
Key features

Suitability
The K8 dries only protective clothing — turnout jackets and trousers. Clothing must be properly washed and disinfected before drying. The K8 is not intended for one-piece coveralls (for that, the taller Harstra K10), for breathing apparatus (Harstra M45B), or for small equipment such as gloves or masks (for that, the Harstra K6).
Applications
Professional fire brigades and larger volunteer/state fire units with a large number of sets to dry at the same time, respiratory-protection workshops and industrial plants maintaining their own protective clothing.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
What is the difference between the K8 and the K6?
The K8 and K6 have the same clothing capacity (6–9 sets) and width, but the K6 — on optional frames — can additionally hold small equipment: gloves, masks and boots. The K8 is intended solely for turnout jackets and trousers.
Will the K8 dry one-piece coveralls?
No — the taller Harstra K10 is intended for coveralls (10 sets or 5 coveralls).
How many sets fit in the K8?
A maximum of 6–9 turnout jackets or trousers at the same time, on a removable stainless-steel rail.
Does the drying cycle need to be monitored?
No — the automatic mode detects on its own when the clothing is dry and switches the device off (approx. 4 hours, depending on the load); a timed mode is also available.
