Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What does a PASS device do?

It watches whether the wearer is moving. When movement stops — after a loss of consciousness, for instance — the device sounds a loud alarm and lights up so the team can find the casualty. Help can also be called manually with one button.

Does motionSCOUT work independently of the breathing apparatus?

Yes. It has its own power from two AA cells and its own alarm, and clips onto the shoulder strap. It needs no connection to the apparatus electronics, so it fits equipment from different manufacturers.

Can it be used in explosive atmospheres?

The device carries intrinsically safe ATEX approvals (II 1G Ex ia IIC T3/T4, I M1 Ex ia I) and IECEx for Zone 0. The operating range is −20 °C to +55 °C.

How long does one set of batteries last?

Over 200 hours in standby. Once the alarm is triggered, the device signals continuously for up to 10 hours.
